Ambassador Promotes Thai-Myanmar Business Collaboration at Secutech Forum Yangon

On 6 September 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the keynote speech on “Business and Investment Opportunities between Myanmar and Thailand” at the Secutech Forum Yangon. The Forum was organized by Worldex G.E.C., Thailand’s representative for Messe Frankfurt, to promote international cooperation in the security, fire, and safety industry, and to extend an invitation to the “Secutech Thailand 2018” event during 8 – 10 November 2018 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

In his keynote speech, Ambassador promoted Thai-Myanmar cooperation to realize a 4.0 economy, or a value based economy driven by innovation. Ambassador outlined Myanmar’s economic reforms and investment opportunities over the past few years. For example, the Myanmar Investment Law, the Myanmar Companies Law, and the Myanmar government’s prioritized sectors for investment, which include infrastructure, electricity, and telecommunications. In addition, he highlighted Thailand and Myanmar’s Natural Strategic Partnership, Myanmar’s strengths from its strategic location between the huge markets of India and China, as well as Myanmar’s part in the East West Economic Corridor, Southern Economic Corridor, and the India Myanmar Thailand Trilateral Highway. In closing, he spoke of the Royal Thai Government’s cooperation with Myanmar to maximize Myanmar’s strengths from its strategic location and connectivity by developing border areas.
