Myanmar has little cocoa production due to its soil, which tends to be too acidic to grow cocoa trees. As a result, it takes several tries to determine which part of the country is suitable for the sustainable production of cocoa. After conducting a survey, there were several production sites created in Taungoo, northern part of Kayin State, and Kambaukin Tanintharyi region. Nowadays, cocoa is widely planted in these areas. According to the Farmer Myanmar Online Journal, most farmers in Tanintharyi region are interested in planting cocoa trees because it is easy to grow in the area. The farmer who owns banana, areca palm, and betel plantations, are interested to grow cocoa trees, which cangrow between those plants.
