Authorities are planned to launch new tour programs at the Myeik Archipelago in Tanintharyi Region

MYEIK-Plans are underway to launch new tour programs at the Myeik Archipelago in Tanintharyi Region because tourism period will start soon, according to tourism agencies.

Although authorities planned to begin tourism season in Myeik Archipelago in mid September, the plan would be implemented depending on the weather.

“We already planned to launch the tourism season since the beginning of September 16th. However, we are going to implement the tour programs in accordance with the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology. The adventure trip, bird looking and underwater scenes will be included in new tour programs. Moreover, we, Myeik Archipelago, offer the frogmen. Mostly travelers went to Smart Island in Myeik Archipelago last season. Marcus Island is second attraction for the travelers who observed underwater scenes and fishing rafts. The tour program of Smart Island will be offering the waterfall programs and Salon village to the travelers,” said Manager Ye Thu from Bright Asia King Travel & Tour.

Tanintharyi region is the southernmost part of Myanmar and is famous for its beautiful untouched Islands. Especially, Myeik Archipelago comprises with over 800 beautiful islands.

The region is also the main manufacturing place for Myanmar’s Natural resources like pearl and seafood.

“This year, Bailey Island is targeted at the travelers. We hoped that the travelers would visit the Bailey Island because it was beautiful island. The costs will be Ks 110,000, Ks 90,000 per traveler for Bailey and Smart Islands. But, the price isn’t fixed. There are over 60 knot from Meik to Bailey Island and the trip will be two hours long,” said Ye Thu.  

Mostly travelers had visited Smart Island and Salon village during last seasons.

Tour agencies urged the government to provide basic infrastructures in the Islands and to ensure greater transparency in the overnight stop tour programs.
