In collaboration with the World Bank, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI) held the 6th Annual MSR of National Community-Driven Development Project in Nay Pyi Taw

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation organized the 6th Annual Union-Level Review (MSR) for Myanmar National Community-Driven Development Project (MNCDDP), implemented by the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in collaboration with the World Bank.
Union Minister Dr Aung Thu made an opening remark at the event held at M Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The Union Minister said the development of living standard and socioeconomics of people is related with the development of the country, while the MNCDDP is one of the opportunities for this development.
The project has entered the sixth year with the initial support of the World Bank to help the respective communities lead and implement development programmes in their areas.
He added the Department of Rural Development could successfully introduce the project with rural communities and could accomplish the objective of ensuring social infrastructure development, an essential component of rural development, bringing about improved public services through a people-centered approach which creates resilient communities.
The review was annually held to share experiences and address challenges for better implementation of the project. As a result, a total of 7.1 million people from over 12,000 villages have enjoyed the benefits of this project.
Mr Gevorg Sargsyan, the Acting Country Director of World Bank, extended greetings, and Director General U Khant Zaw from the Department of Rural Development briefed on the project.
During the discussions, Director General of Department for Progress of Border Areas and National Races U Ye Naing, Deputy Director General of Department of Social Welfare U Aung Kyaw Moe, Project Manager and Director of the Department of Rural Development U Hla Khaing, Lead Social Development Specialist of the World Bank Mr Sean Bradley, Senior Consultant of Asia Foundation Mr Roger Shotton presented about the cooperation in regional development and its sustainability.
U Hla Khaing, the Project Manager, explained the works in the sixth-year term of the project, and the attendees made group discussions on the implementation and technical challenges.
The MNCDDP has covered over 12,000 villages in 63 townships, and it will be expanded to 13 townships.—MNA
