Europe based, PEB Steel Group companies, opened its first steel plant in Myanmar

PEB Steel held the opening ceremony at Pullman Hotel on March 30 for its first factory in Myanmar.

PEB Group of companies, based in Europe, started its Asia operations in 1994, and was one of the first company to bring the Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings technology to the East Asia region. They specialize in the design, fabrication, and erection of pre-engineered steel buildings (P.E.B.), steel structures for factories, warehouses, showrooms, commercial and trade centers, supermarkets, sports stadiums, exhibition halls, and aircraft hangars, etc.

PEB Steel’s $25 million investment in Thilawa SEZ has been operational since early 2018, producing steel products and building materials and is expected to produce 3,000 tons of steel per month.

“We have had our PEB Steel representative’s office here long ago. Now, this plant will help the quality of construction sector here improve,” said Ko Sithu Aung, General Sale Manager of PEB Steel Myanmar LTD.

PEB Steel Myanmar office was open in 1998, and has provided supplies for over 160 projects in twenty years by importing the materials from other countries.

The plant is built on 30,000 square meters in Thilawa SEZ, and is expected to produce and export their steal to Philippines, West Asia, Africa and other overseas markets.

“The plant is now operated with 335 employees and we offer every service related to our works — from design to construction of the building — for projects such building a structure or a warehouse,” he added.
