With the support of Yangon Regional Government, Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) will hold the second edition of Yangon Investment Forum in May 2019

The second edition of Yangon Investment Forum will be held from 10th to 11th of May with the support of the Yangon Region Government, Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, Myanmar Investment Development Association and partner institution, according to the press conference, Thursday.

The forum will be held with two days event. It aims to inform the new investment opportunities, to clarify the rules and regulations, to report project bank, to link the networking with stakeholders and government institution and sharing knowledge as well.

It will also focus on wide range of sectors mainly on garment factory, hotel and tourism, digital economy, real estate, industrial zone and manufacturing. 

Minister, Ministry of Planning and Finance (Yangon Region Government), Myint Thaung said “This is the second time holding the forum, and hope for more investment in Yangon Region. This year, we will prioritize on the investment opportunities, companies’ registration, investment proposal as well as preparing in land, water resources, waste management, and skill labor. We are making effort for the increase of foreign investment not to harm to the environment impact.”

The Yangon Region has 77 % of the country total foreign investment, and allowed 49 business investment for local and 163 foreign investment in 2018-2019 fiscal years.

Minister, Ministry of Kayin Ethnic Affair (Yangon Region Government), Naw Pan Thinzar Myo said

Yangon is the commercial city and it is the main role for the development of the country's economy. In Yangon, there are 29 industrial zones and Thilawa Special Economic Zone. The regional government is implementing 11 new industrial zone projects in the outside of Yangon City area for achieving more foreign investment and economic development.  We do step by step for the investment procedures with the permission of the Union government.

The Yangon Region Government have approved over 191 business investment from 14 countries, with total investment amount of over 254 million USD during 2018-2019 fiscal year. It creates about 100, 000 population for job opportunities.
