MYEIK- International tourists have been allowed to visit the archipelagos in Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region, as a day trip, according to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

In the past, there were restrictions on the visit of Myeik’s archipelago. As for international tourists, they have no chance to visit those islands in Myeik Township.

“ A day trip to archipelagos in Myeik Region has been launched for international visitors. We must report the passenger’s amount and tour program to the district administration department. We don’t need to report our schedules to the administration department in Nay Pyi Taw. We are going to launch our tour programs under the permission of Regional Government Committee. Currently, Tanintharyi Region Government Committee allows only a day trip to archipelagos for foreigners. As licensed tour companies, they are allowed to launch the marine trips to Myeik and Dawei Districts,” said Moe Kyaw Aung, an officer of Hotels and Tourism agency from Myeik District.

“ Myeik archipelago is very significant for international tourists as a Marine Tourism Site. If the tourists will visit Myeik, they have to go to the archipelago. In my opinion, it is surely that tourism industry would bloom in open season. We encourage tour agencies to develop the tourism industry. On the other hand, we, the governmental departments, fulfilled the requirements of the agencies. We are going to report an extension of the three-day trip to the authorities,” said Moe Kyaw Aung.

In Myeik Township, there are five licensed tour companies and other tour agencies are now applying the license. As a day trip has been launched, the tourism industry in Myeik archipelago can be developed, according to one of the entrepreneurs from tour agency.

In Myeik archipelago, the natural islands, ocean bed scene and lifestyle of Salon nationals make the area more attractive to international tourists.
