Most Exports Dip in First Four Months of 2014-15FY

Most exports of Myanmar declined in the first four months (April-July) of the current fiscal year 2014-15, according to the latest figures of the Ministry of Commerce.

Myanmar’s agricultural and fishery exports dropped 7 percent and 30.7 percent respectively to $835 million and $126 million during the period, data shows.

The forestry sector was the worst hit as its exports in the four months of 2014-15 earned only $17 million, down 91.4 percent.

Mineral and finished products’ exports went up by 16.2 percent and 6.25 percent respectively to $208 million and $1.7 billion during the period.

The figures also showed that both total exports and imports increased in the period, racking up $200 million and $1.6 billion respectively.

Exports from border trade rose by 7.8 percent to $862 million during the period with imports from the border trade standing at $88 million.
