POSCO to assist Shwe Gas project from 31 March to 15 June 2022

POSCO International Corporation, one of the largest South Korea’s conglomerates, has announced that it will provide support for the natural gas production in Shwe Gas project from 31 March to 15 June 2022.

POSCO International Cooperation (Myanmar E & P), holding a joint-venture partnership with the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) in oil and gas exploration activities, has announced the location for the installation of temporary remote mooring buoy in order to support natural gas production in the Shwe Gas Project, a large-scale natural gas project located in the Bay of Bengal. Therefore, Shwe Gas Project has issued a nautical warning within 4 km of the construction site to prevent any delays during the deployment of temporary vessels (Temporary Remote Mooring Buoy). Department of Fisheries has also issued a marine warning that small and large ships, cargo boats, motorboats, and fishing boats not to pass or to set fishing gears near the construction site.

          POSCO will conduct Offshore Installation Activities for the Shwe Development Project (Phase 2) on Offshore Block A1 from 27 April to 31 May 2022. Moreover, drilling plan for the Shwe Exploration Project (Phase 2) in Offshore Block A3 has been conducted since 25 February 2022, and it is expected to be completed on 30 July 2022. POSCO is also carrying out excavations for the Shwe Exploration Project (Phase 2) on Offshore Block A3 between 30 January to 15 April 2022.

          On 17 February 2020, one of the largest South Korea’s companies, POSCO also announced the discovery of another new gas field in the vicinity of offshore Myanmar A-3 entitled “Maha” with a production capacity of 38 million cubic feet per day.
