H.E. Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, along with Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) paid a courtesy call on H.E. U Phyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon Region

On 31 January 2020, H.E. Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, along with Mr. Sorasak Keeratichokechaikul, President of the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) paid a courtesy call on H.E. U Phyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon Region. TBAM Executive Committee Members, some Thai investors in Thilawa Special Economic Zone including representatives from Millcon Thiha GEL Limited, Yangon Industrial Gas Co., Ltd, SCI Metal Tech (Myanmar) Co.,Ltd. , and Pacific-PSP Syntech Co,Ltd and representatives from PTTOR, Myanmar CP Livestock, SCG Myanmar, Myanmar Information Highway and Yangon Amata Smart & Eco City also attended this courtesy call.

During the discussion, Chief Minister of Yangon Region expressed his appreciation on the longstanding collaboration from the Thai business community, particularly through TBAM as one of the most important mechanisms in promoting the Thailand-Myanmar economic cooperation. Additionally, he took this opportunity to invite more Thai business investors to invest in the new industrial estates in 11 townships of Yangon Region. He also stressed the commitment to facilitate trade and investment with Thailand and to handle with the existing challenges, indicated by TBAM.

On this occasion, TBAM proposed to enhance the bilateral economic cooperation especially in 5-potential sectors, namely (1) IT and Digital Economy (2) Manufacturing (3) Agriculture, Seafood, and Food Processing (4) Infrastructure and (5) Tourism. Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar underscored that the cooperation would help implement the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP) in the development of macroeconomics, the job creation and private sector-led growth.

After the meeting, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, together with President of TBAM, Mr. Wichai Keeratipongvattana, Assistant Vice President of Myanmar CP Livestock, Mr. Surachai Pornjindachote, Country Director of SCG Myanmar and Mr. Yasuo Tsutsui, Managing Director of Yangon Amata Smart & Eco City Limited, presented the 11,835 US Dollar-donation for the provision of sport equipments for youth to the Chief Minister of Yangon Region.
