The 5th annual Construction, Power & Mining Myanmar will be held on October 12-14 at MEP at Mindama, Yangon.

The trade exhibition will focus on Building & Construction, Electrical Power & Renewable Energy and Mining & Minerals Recovery.

Myanmar is the fourth fastest-growing economy in ASEAN and despite numerous domestic armed conflicts, an inviting destination for business opportunities. Three of the most attractive sectors for investment are construction, energy, and mining.

“Construction, Power & Mining Myanmar 2017 helps add value to Myanmar’s economy and industries by bringing an international industry focused trade exhibition to Myanmar,” Fraser Hawkas, General Manager of UBM Myanmar, said.

The construction sector, especially the development of infrastructure, is primed for investment as initiatives to revitalize the nation’s dilapidated infrastructure sit high on the new NLD government’s docket of issues to address.

Similarly, electricity, power management, and distribution is a highly demanded industry as Myanmar has one of the lowest rates of electrification in Asia and the government is actively trying to remedy this.

Finally, mining is the third largest recipient of FDI despite often being directly linked to corruption, conflict, and human rights abuses. Myanmar’s diverse and largely untapped geological resources, if managed ethically, de-monopolized, and taxed, could make a significant contribution to the country’s economic development.

“This event will help Myanmar’s businesspeople and entrepreneurs build business connections and learn more about the industry in which they work,” U Aye Tun, Vice Chairman of Myanmar Industrial Association, said.

Last year’s event included 3 international trade exhibitions, Building & Construction, Electric Power & Renewable Energy Myanmar, and Mining Myanmar.

This year event aims to attract over 180 companies from 16 countries as well as 6 international pavilions from China, Germany, India, Korea, Singapore, and Thailand.

The exhibition is free to attend for trade professionals and visitors.
