  Non-paper - 5 April 2017 - Myanmar's tourism industry

  The tourism business has played a major role in driving forward Myanmar’s economic development since the start of national reforms in 2011. Myanmar is endowed with many potential tourist attractions arising from its 1,930 km coastline, its historical landmarks and variety of cultural traditions. The government has drawn up a tourism development master plan, which seeks to build Myanmar into a leading tourist destination in Southeast Asia, and to cater to the increasing number of tourists arriving in Myanmar. The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism estimated that inbound tourists to Myanmar amounted to 6 million in 2016. Moreover, political and economic stability are seen as opportunities for the development of the tourism industry.

  Designation of Development Zone for purpose of income tax exemption and relief

  The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Myanmar Investment Commission in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 100 (b) of Myanmar Investment Law, with the approval of Union Government, issued this notification to specify Less Developed Regions as Zone 1, Moderate Developed Regions as Zone 2 and Developed Regions as Zone 3 as follows for the purpose of income tax exemption

  Kayin State Profile: Location: Southern Myanmar Shared borders: Mandalay Division and Shan State to the north Kayah State and Thailand to the east Bago Division and Mon State to the west Area: 30,383 sq. km Ethnicity: the area was previously known as Karen State, and is mainly inhabited by Karen ethnicities, which are also known as Sagaw Karen, Pwo Karen, Bwe Karen, Paku Karen, and other ethnicities, such as Mon, Shan, Burmese, and Pa-O.

  Non-paper - 22 March 2017 - Plastic Industry in Myanmar

  The Myanmar Plastic Industries Association (MPIA) is the leading private sector organization of the industry, representing 1,000 units of processed plastic in Myanmar and supporting the growth of the industry. The plastic industry in Myanmar now processes up to 250,000 metric tons per year, and is expected to grow by 15 – 20 percent or more. Moreover, MPIA plans to double its output to 500,000 metric tons per year within five years’ time.

  Non-paper - 14 Mar 2017 - Myanmar Economic Forecast 2017

  The elected government of Myanmar has carefully navigated a difficult economic and security environment since taking office in April 2016. The economy was still recovering from a flood-induced supply shock, which, together with low commodity prices, contributed to a widening current account and fiscal deficits. The government has taken steps to maintain fiscal prudence, which have helped ease pressure on monetary growth and import demand.

  เมื่อวันที่ ๒๔ กุมภาพันธ์๒๕๖๐ สมาคมนักธุรกิจไทยในเมียนมา (Thai Business Association of Myanmar –TBAM)ได้จัดงาน Morning Talk ครั้งที่ ๕ ที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงย่างกุ้งภายใต้หัวข้อ “Myanmar Marketing Communications 2016 and Forecast Trend in 2017” โดยเชิญนายภูมิ วาณิชตันติกุล Media Planning Manager ของบริษัท Wired Media (Myanmar) และ นายอคิรากร อิกิติสิริ Country Manager ของบริษัท Mono Technology มาบรรยายให้ทั้งสมาชิก TBAM และนักธุรกิจต่างชาติ โดยมีประเด็นเป็นประโยชน์แก่ผู้ที่สนใจพัฒนาการด้านเศรษฐกิจของเมียนมาในภาพรวม และนักธุรกิจที่ดำเนินธุรกิจด้านการสื่อสารมวลชน ดังนี้

  ในช่วงต้นปี ๒๕๖๐มีรายงานเกี่ยวกับภาพรวมเศรษฐกิจเมียนมา และข่าวสารเกี่ยวกับการค้าการลงทุน และการคลังที่น่าสนใจ ดังนี้ ๑. ภาพรวมด้านเศรษฐกิจธนาคารโลกคาดว่าเศรษฐกิจเมียนมาจะฟื้นตัวจากปี ๒๕๕๙ และสามารถขยายตัวได้ร้อยละ ๗ ใน ๓ ปีข้างหน้า โดยมีทั้งประเด็นท้าทายและตัวชี้วัดที่บ่งชี้การเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจ ดังนี้

  ไทยพร้อมขับเคลื่อนโครงการเขตเศรษฐกิจพิเศษทวายร่วมกับเมียนมา

  เมื่อวันที่ ๑๐ กุมภาพันธ์ ๒๕๖๐ นายพิษณุ สุวรรณะชฎ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงย่างกุ้ง ได้นำคณะของนายอาคม เติมพิทยาไพสิฐ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงคมนาคม เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนายเฮนรี แวน เทียว รองประธานาธิบดี และประธานคณะกรรมการเขตเศรษฐกิจพิเศษระดับชาติของเมียนมา และหารือกับ ดร. ทุน หน่าย รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงไฟฟ้าและพลังงานเมียนมา และประธานคณะกรรมการเขตเศรษฐกิจพิเศษทวาย ที่กรุงเนปิดอว์ โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องกันเรื่องความสำคัญของโครงการเขตเศรษฐกิจพิเศษทวายที่จะสร้างงานและรายได้ให้แก่ชาวเมียนมา การสร้างประโยชน์ทางเศรษฐกิจให้แก่กลุ่มประเทศ CLMV (กัมพูชา ลาว เมียนมา และเวียดนาม) รวมทั้งการพัฒนาแนวระเบียงเศรษฐกิจตะวันออกตะวันตก และแนวระเบียงเศรษฐกิจทางใต้ ตลอดจนความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างกันในอาเซียน โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องที่จะขับเคลื่อนโครงการฯ โดยเร็วที่สุด และจัดประชุมคณะกรรมการประสานงานร่วมในโอกาสแรก

  เอกอัครราชทูตส่งเสริมให้นักธุรกิจไทยสนับสนุนการพัฒนานิคมอุตสาหกรรมในเมียนมา

  เมื่อวันที่ ๑๙ มกราคม ๒๕๖๐ สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงย่างกุ้ง ได้ร่วมกับสมาคมนักธุรกิจไทยในเมียนมา จัดการสัมมนาเรื่อง “นิคมอุตสาหกรรมในเมียนมา” ที่โรงแรม Novotel โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับภาพรวมนิคมอุตสาหกรรมในเมียนมา นโยบายของเมียนมาต่อการพัฒนานิคมอุตสาหกรรม และโอกาสลงทุน โดยมีนาย U San Myintรองอธิบดีกรมบริหารการลงทุนและบริษัท นาย Tin ShweOoผู้อำนวยการกองดูแลและตรวจสอบอุตสาหกรรม กระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมเมียนมา และ นาย Ye Min Aung ประธานบริษัท Ayeyarwaddy Development Company Limited ซึ่งอยู่ระหว่าง การพัฒนานิคมอุตสาหกรรม Pathein Industrial City เป็นวิทยากร ทั้งนี้ นายพิษณุ สุวรรณะชฎ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงย่างกุ้ง ได้กล่าวเปิดงาน โดยมีนักธุรกิจไทยและนักธุรกิจต่างชาติให้ความสนใจและเข้าร่วม ๘๐ คน
