Ambassador Supports Project to Strengthen Myanmar’s Banking Sector and Financial System
On 12 August 2017, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks at the certificate awarding ceremony for the senior executive class of SCB Bankers Academy at Melia Hotel, Yangon. The SCB Bankers Academy is a collaborative project between Siam Commercial Bank, Thammasat University, Thailand, and the Myanmar Banks Association. A total of 26 Myanmar bankers participated in the first senior executive program. -
Ambassador Joins MoU Signing Ceremony between EXIM Bank of Thailand and KBZ to Promote Thai-Myanmar Trade and Investment
On 31 July 2017, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long participated in the MoU signing ceremony between the Export-Import Bank of Thailand, or EXIM Bank, and Myanmar’s KBZ Bank, at the KBZ Strand Office Complex. The purpose of the MoU is to promote trade and investment between the two countries. It was signed by Mr. Pisit Seriwiwattana, President of EXIM Bank, and Mr. Win Lwin, Managing Director and Head of International Banking Division at KBZ. Executives from EXIM Bank and KBZ also attended the signing ceremony. -
Ambassador encourages Thai products to enter Myanmar’s online market
On 31 July 2017, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks at the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM)’s 8th Morning Talk on “Driving Internet & e-Commerce Opportunities” at the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon. Guest speakers included Mr. Passakorn Hongsyok, General Manager of Myanmar Information Highway, who gave a presentation on “Internet Infrastructure,” Mr. Sumit Jasoria, Managing Director of shop.com Myanmar, who talked about “E-Commerce in Myanmar,” and Ms. Siriporn Nimtiparat, Managing Director of True Money Myanmar, who presented on “Payment Platform and Solutions.” The Morning Talk was attended by 50 TBAM members. -
Royal Thai Embassy supports information exchange among foreign chambers of commerce in Myanmar
On 4 July 2016, H.E. Mr. Jukr Boon-long, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, delivered the opening remarks at the “Chamber Connect 1” meeting organized by the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange information and discuss potential areas for collaboration between TBAM and foreign chambers of commerce in Myanmar. “Chamber Connect 1” included participants from 4 foreign chambers: the British Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, the French Myanmar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the European Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar. -
Ambassador leads businessmen to survey the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway
During 24 – 27 May 2017, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long led a delegation of Thai Embassy officials and Thai businessmen to survey economic opportunities along the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway. The Highway is a strategic land link between the huge market of India and the Southeast Asian region. On this trip, Ambassador was joined by 10 Thai businessmen from various sectors, including finance and banking, logistics, energy, ICT, food and beverage, as well as water management. The delegation visited important cities and towns, such as Mandalay, which is a logistics hub and the third most important city in Myanmar after Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon. In addition, they visited important towns on the Myanmar-India border such as Kalaymyo on the Myanmar side, which is an important passage to India, and Imphal, the capital of Manipur State, on the Indian side, and the starting point of the Trilateral Highway. -
Royal Thai Embassy Supports Seminar to Update Thai Private Sector on Myanmar’s Laws and Taxation System
On 17 May 2017, the Thai Ambassador to Myanmar participated in the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM)’s third annual Myanmar Update on Myanmar’s laws and taxation system. This year, TBAM invited distinguished speakers such as U Aung Naing Oo, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, to give a talk on the new Myanmar Investment Law, which just came into effect on 1 April 2017. Other distinguished speakers included representatives from leading law firms, such as Baker & McKenzie, Tilleke & Gibbins, and Deloitte, who provided information on the investment incentives and differences between the new Myanmar Investment Law compared to the previous one. Moreover, they also provided information on the Ministry of Commerce’s new notifications and an overview of Myanmar’s taxation system, which was very useful for the 150 participants. -
Thailand is Ready to Share Experience in Plastic Manufacturing with Myanmar
On 4 April 2017, Ambassador Jukr Boon-long participated in the press conference entitled “Serving the Growth of Myanmar’s Plastic Manufacturers,” which was organized by Reed Tradex Company at Chatrium Hotel Yangon. Ambassador Jukr delivered the keynote speech on “The Thai Government’s Policy to Support Industrial Collaboration between Myanmar and Thailand.” He emphasized Thailand’s policy to strengthen the economic partnership with Myanmar towards sustainable development by promoting close working relations between both government agencies and the private sector of both countries. -

ASEAN Ports and Shipping continues to be the biggest annual Container Ports and Terminal Operations Exhibition and Conference in the ASEAN region - now in its 15th successful year! The 15th ASEAN Ports and Shipping 2017 Exhibition and Conference will take place for the first time in Myanmar at the luxurious 5 star Sule Shangri-La Yangon from Wednesday 5 to Friday 7 July. The event is honoured to be hosted by Myanma Port Authority. -
Thailand is Ready to Share Experience in Promoting Local Brands with Myanmar
On 23 March 2016, Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Wiraka Moodthitaporn delivered the opening address at the “Top Thai Brands 2017” trade fair at Melia Hotel, Yangon. This is the second “Top Thai Brands” fair organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, in collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai National Shippers Council, thus representing a synergy of the Thai public and private sector to enhance economic relations with Myanmar, and to strengthen the ASEAN Economic Community. -
