Royal Thai Embassy Discusses Thai-Myanmar Collaboration with the Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs’ Association
On 13 November 2018, Mr. Narong Boonsatheanwong, Chargé d’affaires, a.i., met with U Aye Win, Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs’ Association (MEEA) together with executives of MEEA. During the meeting, they discussed the establishment and objectives of MEEA to promote (1) socio-economic development of ethnic groups; (2) networking among ethnic entrepreneurs; and (3) businesses of these entrepreneurs both in Myanmar and abroad. -
Royal Thai Embassy Supports Thai-Myanmar Collaboration on Banking and Business Management
On 4 November 2018, Mr. Narong Boonsatheanwong, Chargé d’affaires, a.i., attended the press conference on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between Myanmar Institute of Banking (MIB), and Thammasat Business School (TBS), at Sule Shangri-La Hotel, Yangon. This MOU will initially provide 30 scholarships for a Global Executive MBA program (GEMBA), with a focus on banking and global business management, at TBS. H.E. U Myint Thaung, Minister of Planning and Finance, Yangon Regional Government, welcomed the program, which would help Myanmar executives to become more competitive. He also noted the importance of higher education in empowering the workforce and promoting sustainable economic development. U Than Zaw, Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Banks Association, stated that the program would help realize one of the objectives of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) to promote integration, standardization, and greater sharing of expertise among ASEAN member states. In addition, Associate Professor Gasinee Withoonchart, Rector of Thammasat University, and Associate Professor Dr. PipopUdorn, Dean of Thammasat Business School, provided information on Thammasat University and GEMBA. -
Report on ACMECS Joint Business Council ExCom Meeting
ACMECS Joint Business Council ExCom Meeting On 11 October 2018, ACMECS Joint Business Council (JBC) ExCom meeting took place at 13:30 hrs., at Pan Pacific Hotel Yangon.The meeting was attended by 20people from Thailand, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), and Myanmar business associations and Chambers of Commerce and Industry. U Thaung Tin, Vice President, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of ACMECS JBC delivered the welcome remarks. U Thaung Tin welcomed all delegations and highlighted that UMFCCI has cooperated and communicated with all chambers in ACMECS member countries to support close regional cooperation. Mr. Sanan Angubolkul expressed his appreciation to all the private sector in ACMECS member countries for working closely together to promote business cooperation. During the 8th ACMECS Summit in June 2018, private sector from ACMECS member countries had the opportunity to provide recommendations to government leaders and is now following up on the implementation of those recommendations, to resolve the problems and challenges raised. -
MEGA Industrial and Infrastrucutre events for Myanmar
MEGA Industrial and Infrastructure Events for Myanmar, the unique combination of four special shows in one location was held atYangon Convention Centre (YCC), during 11th – 13th October 2018. The events included (1)Construction Power & Mining Myanmar 2018; (2)Intermach Myanmar (industrial machinery); (3) MTA Myanmar (manufacturing industry) and Subcon Myanmar 2018 (subcontracting and business matching); and (4) Myanmar Water 2018 and Renewable Energy Myanmar 2018. The three days exhibition mainly focused on technologies and equipment covering a variety of industries, including industrial machinery, subcontracting and sourcing, building and construction, mining, water and wastewater management, power and renewable energy. On 11 October 2018, the MEGA Industrial and Infrastructure Events for Myanmar was officially opened. The opening remarks were delivered by U Shein Win, Chairman of Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Association (MCEA), Dr. Aung Thein, Chairman of Myanmar Industrial Association, U Aung Myint, Chairman of Myanmar Engineering Society (MES), and Mr. Fraser Hawkes, Managing Director of UBM Myanmar (exhibition organizer). -

On 17 September 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks at the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM)’s 14th Morning Talk on “Regulation Permitting Retail/Wholesale Business and MyCo Registration.” Guest speakers included Ms. Cho Thet Mu, Deputy Director of the Department of Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar, and Mr. Myo Min, Director of the Company Affairs Division at the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA). -
TBAM Morning Talk # 14 on “Regulation Permitting Retail/Wholesale Business and MyCo Registration”
On 17 September 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks at the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM)’s 14th Morning Talk on “Regulation Permitting Retail/ Wholesale Business and MyCO Registration” at the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon. Guest Speakers included U Minn Minn, Deputy Director General of the Department of Trade, who gave a presentation on “Standard Operation Procedure for Retail/Wholesale Registration Process by Notification (25/2018),” and U Myo Min, Director at the Company Affairs Division, Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA),who presented on “TheRe-Registration under Myanmar Companies Law and Myanmar Companies Online- MyCO.”The Morning Talk was attended by more than 80 members of TBAM. -
Ambassador Delivers Opening Remarks at “SCG Sharing the Dream” Scholarship Award Ceremony
On 8 September 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long, together with His Excellency U Phyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon Region, and Mr. Paramate Nisagornsen, Vice President for Regional Business, SCG Cement Building Materials Business, delivered the opening remarks at “SCG Sharing the Dream” Scholarship Award Ceremony. This is the seventh year that SCG has organized this event to offer scholarships to high school students from public schools in Myanmar. This year, 150 scholarships were offered to high school students in Yangon. -
Ambassador Promotes Thai-Myanmar Business Collaboration at Secutech Forum Yangon
On 6 September 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the keynote speech on “Business and Investment Opportunities between Myanmar and Thailand” at the Secutech Forum Yangon. The Forum was organized by Worldex G.E.C., Thailand’s representative for Messe Frankfurt, to promote international cooperation in the security, fire, and safety industry, and to extend an invitation to the “Secutech Thailand 2018” event during 8 – 10 November 2018 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre.
