Royal Thai Embassy leads Thai Business Delegation to meet with Myanmar’s Economic Ministries
On 10 September 2018, Mr. Jukr Boon-Long, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, and Mr. Narong Boonsatheanwong, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon, led the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) and 24 member companies to meet with senior officials of Myanmar’s economic ministries in Nay Pyi Taw. The purpose of the meetings was for Thai companies to introduce themselves, and to learn firsthand of Myanmar’s economic policies, and related laws and regulations, as well as trade and investment opportunities. The Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon, and TBAM, organize meetings between Thai companies and senior officials of Myanmar’s economic ministries as an annual joint activity. The aim is to realize the Royal Thai Government’s policy to promote and develop economic cooperation with neighbouring countries, such as Myanmar, which is Thailand’s Natural Strategic Partner. In addition, the Royal Thai Government has a policy to strengthen regional networks between governments, businesses, and peoples, to expand trade and investment opportunities, and to extend regional connectivity. -
Invest Myanmar Summit 2019
On 31 August 2018, the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) held a press conference on the “Invest Myanmar Summit 2019,” which will be held during 28 – 29 January 2019 at the MICC-II in Nay Pyi Taw. The summit is part of UMFCCI’s activities to attract more foreign investment in Myanmar with the support of the Government. U Phyo Wai, Vice President of UMFCCI gave a presentation on the main objectives of the seminar, which are three-fold. Firstly, to provide international and local investors with the opportunity to discover Myanmar’s business potential. Secondly, to serve as a platform to meet with the Central and Regional Government officials, as well as for local governments to showcase business opportunities in their regions. Thirdly, to expand investment beyond Yangon and Mandalay, to include Shan State, Ayeyarwady Region, Kayin State, Mon State, and Tanintharyi Region. -
Delegation of Inspector Generals from the Office of the Prime Minister of ThailandVisits Myanmar
During 3 – 4 September 2018, Mr. Surasak Riangkrul, Chief of Inspector Generals, led a delegation to Yangon to meet withthe Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon,Thai government agencies in Myanmar, or Team Thailand, the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) and Thai investors in Myanmar, as well as the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The purpose of the visit was to gather informationand recommendations from the aforesaid meetings for policy making, to realize Thailand’s vision of “Thailand: security, prosperity, sustainability, and developed country based on sufficiency economy philosophy.” These recommendations will be presented to the Royal Thai Government for its consideration and future implementation.The delegation perceives Myanmar as an important neighbouring country, and supports the exchange of visits at all levels, as part of Thailand’s overseas mission to promote relations with neighbouring countries and concrete outcomes. -

Ambassador Supports Strengthening Relations between Thai and Myanmar Entrepreneurs
On 21 August 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks for the Young Entrepreneur Network Development Program (YEN-D), together with Mr. Adul Chotinisakorn, Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand, at Sedona Hotel Yangon. The YEN-D Program was initiated by the Department of Foreign Trade to connect successful young entrepreneurs in the region, and strengthen their relationships for long term sustainable business collaboration. As such, Ambassador was pleased that the program was well attended by more than 70 Thai entrepreneurs and more than 100 Myanmar entrepreneurs. -
Chargé d’ Affaires Congratulates SCI Metal Tech on its New Factory in Thilawa Special Economic Zone
On 9 August 2018, Mr. Narong Boonsatheanwong, Chargé d’ Affaires, delivered the congratulatory remarks at the opening ceremony for SCI Metal Tech at Thilawa Special Economic Zone, together with Daw Cho Cho Wynn, Vice Chairperson of Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Management Committee, U Aung SoeTha, Chairman of Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited, Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana, President of EXIM Bank of Thailand, and Mr. Noppol Milinthanggoon, Chairman of the Board of Directors, SCI Electric Public Company Limited, which is the parent company of SCI Metal Tech. -
Embassy Updates University Lecturers from Thammasat University on Thai-Myanmar Relations
On 6 August 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long, Mr. Narong Boonsatheanwong, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Royal Thai Embassy, together with Ms. Walika Apayasiri, Counsellor at the Office of Commercial Affairs, Mr. Sorasak Keeratichokechaikul, President of the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM), and Mr. Nattawin Phongsphetrarat, Vice President of TBAM, received Assistant Professor Kitti Siripullop, and university lecturers from the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Thammasat University. The Royal Thai Embassy emphasized Thailand’s policy to enhance relations with neighbouring countries and highlighted activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-Myanmar diplomatic relations in 2018. In addition, the Embassy informed the delegation of Thailand and Myanmar’s close relations, as State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and President U Win Myint made their first official overseas trip to Thailand after assuming their positions. -
Highlights from Myanmar Insight 2018 Economic Seminar
On 20 July 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, in collaboration with the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM), organized the Myanmar Insight 2018 economic seminar at Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok, Thailand. This was the third Myanmar Insight seminar organized by the Embassy and TBAM, and is part of the series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-Myanmar diplomatic relations in 2018. The seminar was well attended by almost 600 Thai businessmen. -
Thai Ambassador Promotes Thai-Myanmar Collaboration on Capacity Building for Economic Growth
On 29 June 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks at “KBank Biz Plan Challenge 2018: The Digital Marketing for Digital Entrepreneur” Training Day at Melia Hotel, together with U Han Thar Myint, Chairman of the Central Economic Committee, and Mr. Pattanapong Tansomboon, First Senior Vice President of Kasikorn Bank from Thailand. The Biz Plan Challenge is a collaborative project between Kasikorn Bank, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry, Myanmar, the Renaissance Institute, a policy institute that focuses on economic reforms in Myanmar, and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI). The project is part of Kasikorn Bank’s series of activities, in collaboration with the Myanmar Government and Myanmar private sector, to promote the development of the SME sector and its contribution to Myanmar’s economic growth. -
Press Conference on Myanmar Insight 2018 Economic Seminar
On 12 June 2018, Ambassador Jukr Boon-Long delivered the opening remarks at the Press Conference on the “Myanmar Insight 2018” economic seminar, to be held on 20 July 2018 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The seminar is part of the series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-Myanmar diplomatic relations in 2018. It is a joint project between the Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon, and the Thai Business Association of Myanmar, with great support from the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).
