Embassy Highlights Investment Opportunities in Electricity Sector to Business Delegation

On 17 January 2018,Mr. Narong Boonsatheanwong, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy, together with the Thai Commercial Affairs Office in Yangon, received Mr. PanyaVudthiprajak, Chairman of the Kanchanaburi Chamber of Commerce, and delegation. The Ministersummarized Myanmar’s electricity policyand investment trends in the electricity sector. He also highlighted the importance of the electricity business for Myanmar’s sustainable economic developmentand emphasized the high potential of Myanmar’s neighbouring states to Thailand for investment in energy, especially in hydropower. Lastly, he encouraged Thai investors to implement good business practices in Myanmar, to take consideration of their project’s environmental impact, and to implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that will benefit local communities.
