Myanmar's Ministry of Rail Transportation to invite a new tender for the Yangon Central Railway Station comprehensive development project as there were not tender-winning companies

The Ministry of Rail Transportation recently issued an announcement that it will invite a new tender for the Yangon Central Railway Station comprehensive development project as there were no tender-winning companies. 

Myanmar Railways, under the Ministry of Rail Transportation, invited tender for the Yangon Central Railway Station comprehensive development project to develop high-rise buildings, hotels and commercial buildings on 63.622 acres of land in the Yangon railway station area. Myanmar Railways shortlisted 28 of 34 local and foreign companies which submitted the expression of interest for the project. 

Nine short-listed companies purchased the tender proposal forms. And only three companies submitted their proposals in January, 2015. 

Myanmar Railways received 34 proposals from the companies in Myanmar, Malaysia, Italy, Japan, China, Korea, Qatar, France, Taiwan, Japan, China, Singapore, Canada and Vietnam.  

Some short-listed companies are Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), Lotte Asset Development Co., Ltd, Ooredoo Myanmar Ltd, Yunnan Construction Engineering Group, China Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd (CHEC), Mitsubishi Corporation, Fortune International Ltd, AyeyarHinTha Construction Co., Ltd and Shwe Than Lwin Group of Company. 

Some shortlisted local companies are joint-ventured with foreign investors. This projectis the essential partof Greater Yangoncitydevelopment. Local and foreign investors are invited to develophigh-rise buildings, hotels and commercial buildings in the compound yard of Yangon Railways Station.
