Survey for NgweSaung beach area development project has been completed and a plan will be proposed to parliament

The survey for the development project of NgweSaung Beach area has been completed and a plan will be proposed to parliament, according to an official from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

“Planning is in progress after data collection and the estimated period of the project would be 20 years. After the planning is completed it will be made known to the people and all the businesses. Achieving an agreement between businesses and the government will be the first priority,” said one of the directors from the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism.

Among the necessary NgweSaung Beach development projects infrastructure, road transportation, clean water supply, telecommunications, health services, education, museums, environmental protection, ports and an airport will be included.

“We want to upgrade the area because the area is visited by a lot of tourists,” said the director.

The ministry claims that in implementing the project, there will be no taking of land owned by local people, before reaching to an agreement concerning the price of the land.

U Kyaw Min Hlaing, associate secretary of the NgweSaung Hoteliers’ Association, said road transportation is a major problem for tourists around the NgweSaung Beach area.

“Transportation methods used by locals are not very convenient for the tourists,” he said.

Recently, government and hotel staff and local people together have started cleaning the beach area weekly to maintain the hygiene of the beach.
