Myanmar has imported fuel worth over USD $ 160 million over the past one and a half months in the current 2020 – 2021 financial year

Myanmar has imported nearly 450,000 tons of fuel worth over US$160 million over the past one and a half months in the current fiscal year falling over 120,000 tons worth over US$180 million when compared to the same period of last year, an official from the Ministry of Commerce told The Daily Eleven.  

From October 1 to November 13 in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, 449,374 tons of fuel worth US$165.918 million were imported.  

“When it comes to fuel import, the import of both diesel and petrol has decreased this year. We have seen a decrease of 52,550 tons worth US$102.506 million in diesel import and a decrease of 47,567 tons worth US$78.826 million in petrol import,” the official said.  

Therefore, the fuel imports in about 45 days decreased by 127,117 tons worth US$181.332 million. 

Till December 5, local fuel prices were Ks 595-605 per liter of diesel, Ks605-615 per liter of premium diesel, Ks535-565 per liter of petrol (RON 92), Ks665-675 per liter of petrol (RON 95) and Ks890 per liter of petrol (RON 97), according to local filling stations. 

In Myanmar, petrol price and diesel price have increased 2.80 percent and 3.20 percent respectively over the week, Global Petrol Prices Website reported on November 30.
