Myanmar tour operators called for the easing of COVID – 19 restrictions to resume tourism in boosting businesses

Myanmar tour operators are calling on the countries authorities to ease the COVID-19 quarantine requirements for moving from state to state as domestic tourism is set to resume in January 2021.

At the opening of COVID-19 Safe Service training class which was held this week in Mandalay, Tin Latt, deputy minister of the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, said they are implementing a process so that tourism can resume again in early 2021.

However, as one tour operator said, there is still a need to quarantine when travelling when they resume domestic tourism, so it is impossible to start, therefore there is a need for the government to ease quarantine restrictions in order for domestic tourism to be successful.

The tour operators welcome the announcement of the Ministry of Health and Sports to live together with COVID-19 and create ideas to change the business system and the new living style that includes certain regulations to help prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Initially, operators are starting with sight-seeing flights and boat trips.
