Thai hospitality and hotel conglomerate Dusit International has signed a hotel management agreement (HMA) to open its contemporary D2 brand in Myanmar

Thai hospitality and hotel conglomerate Dusit International said it has signed a hotel management agreement (HMA) to open its contemporary D2 brand in Myanmar.

Slated for a 2017 opening date, the dusitD2 Residence Yangon is situated between the city centre and Yangon International Airport.

The residence will offer 300 units, a specialty dining outlet, bar, business lounge and recreational facilities including a gym and swimming pool.

Dusit has entered into the HMA with real estate developer, Myanmar JP Asset Co Ltd.

The building has been designed by Iida Architect Studio in Japan and the construction management will be handled by Kokusai Land (Vietnam) Ltd.

Masami Hatae, chief executive officer of Myanmar JP Asset Co, said, “The dusitD2 in Yangon will be the first property in the city to combine the best of warm Asian hospitality and cutting-edge design. The multi-cultural collaboration ... will ensure the project is a truly great success, bringing together the very best of Asian innovation and hospitality.”

Founded in 1949 by Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, Dusit International comprises four hotel brands: Dusit Thani, dusitD2, Dusit Princess and Dusit Devarana. It also operates Dusit Residences and its own signature Devarana Spa.

The Yangon hotel will add to Dusit’s existing D2 hotels in Nairobi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, California and Changzhou. It is also planning to the launch the brand in Tianjin, Delhi, Gurgaon and Khao Yai.
