In partnership with Myanmar Golden Rock International (MGR), power management company Eaton will expand into Myanmar market

YANGON, MYANMAR — Eaton announced its expansion into the Myanmar market through a partnership with Myanmar Golden Rock International Co., Ltd (“MGR”), a leading technology solutions provider in the country.

Eaton is an international company providing electrial solutions for a wide variety of sectors. Eaton is a power management company with 2017 sales of $20.4 billion USD. Eaton’s history stretches back to its founding in 1911 in New Jersey, USA.

Asia Pacific is a key growth market for Eaton since the company established its presence in the region through the 1970s. Today, the company manufactures in 47 major manufacturing facilities and employs more than 20,000 people across Asia Pacific. Eaton’s entry into the Myanmar market builds on the company’s positive growth momentum in the region.

Widely considered Asia’s final frontier, Myanmar presents immense potential for exponential growth, particularly in the power and energy market. Even with abundant energy resources, only 30 per cent of the population in Myanmar has a stable supply of electricity, an infrastructural constraint that brings substantial challenges to the country’s development and economic growth.

The demand for power and energy solutions will only grow as the country races towards electrifying 100 per cent of Myanmar’s households, the primary goal set out in the Myanmar National Electrification Plan, said Kidsada Santisak, country manager for Indochina West, Eaton.

“The partnership with MGR reflects the next level of Eaton’s commitment to growth in Asia. By forming strategic and meaningful relationships with partners and organizations, we aim to support and empower Myanmar’s businesses and communities as they grow and evolve,” Santisak further added.

Together with MGR, Eaton will bring its global expertise to the data center, healthcare, utilities and commercial building segments. Customers in Myanmar will be able to leverage Eaton’s key power management technologies solutions, which will improve the reliability of existing and newly-developed power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure in the country.

“At MGR, we work closely with strong technology partners to deliver high-quality products and solutions to the market. Eaton’s technology leadership and commitment to service excellence, makes it a natural fit. We are confident of the impact that this partnership will create on Myanmar’s power and energy development goals,” said Alvin Law, Managing Director of A.MGR Co. Pte Ltd.

Having served various countries in the region for more than 40 years, Eaton is equipped with a deep understanding of the region’s unique energy landscape – from emerging economies to developed markets. Spurred by the power needs and trends of tropical data centers, smart buildings, utilities and digital transformation programs, Eaton in Asia Pacific has grown rapidly to address the region's technology and energy demands.
