Myanmar Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference was held in Yangon in order to boost economic cooperation between Hunan and Myanmar

China (Hunan) – Myanmar Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference was held on Monday afternoon in Yangon.

The Vice Governor of Hunan Provincial People’s Government, the Vice President of UMFCCI, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Myanmar and Chinese entrepreneurs joined the 1-day conference. To implement the Myanmar-China Economic Platform which relates to the Silk road is already under discussion. This conference focused on business cooperation between Myanmar and Hunan Province of China and building up Silk Road Station.

President, Lenercom International Engineering Co., Ltd., Lao Wen said “The purpose of that event is to encourage Hunan enterprises; the companies come to Myanmar and to invest here, set the tree here, to boost the economic between Hunan and Myanmar. And also, incentive and encourage to let the Myanmar’s companies to know where is Hunan and how Hunan is opening on all the business and they encourage businessman in Myanmar to come to Hunan and invest there. So there is the 2 ways hope to encourage business opportunities.”

The Vice President of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry said the Federation signed 21 MoUs with Chinese business companies and groups.

Vice President, UMFCCI, Dr. Maung Maung Lay said “China has the 2nd longest borderline contact with us and number 1 investor in Myanmar and also in trading. So, it’s important to use that neighbouring country’s politic, economic and social condition. It’s true that every nation puts their interests as priority. We must be aware of it. Some countries are not the neighbors of China or can’t have the opportunities we can get. So, we shouldn’t let go of the opportunities.”

Building up Silk Road Station is a 5-year plan with 3 stages. The 1st stage is to start with 3-5 stations in different countries within 1 year. The 2nd stage is to have 30 stations which can cover 20-30 countries within 3 years. The 3rd stage is a mature stage with over 80 stations which cover 40-60 countries.

General Manager, China Energy Engineering Group, Zhang Li said … “some kind of industry products, we can produce them here and make manufacturing here so make the progress to help the economy but naturally both side can help each other to make a more economic growth.” “The challenges may be the background of the different culture. But I think we can overcome all these challenges because we are a giant country and we have very similar background. For that in the future, I think economic growth will be the mutual … goes for both of us. I think we can overcome all the obstacles and all the difficulties. We have the bright future.”

A delegation from UMFCCI will attend the Silk Road Business Summit 2018 which will be held from the 14th to the 17th of October by ICC Asia.
