Agriculture, livestock and aqua fisheries play a vital role in both the country's economy and its people's livelihood. Agriculture is the backbone of this economy: the sector accounts for about 30% of GDP, over 50% of the total employment and approximately 20% of exports. The country's diverse topography, water and ecosystems allow for producing a range of cereals, pulses, horticultural products and fruits, as well as livestock and fishery products. Myanmar has also the largest land mass in Southeast Asia, promising a large development within the Agriculture sector.

Myanmar has many favorable natural conditions, but the agriculture needs more elements to develop technology, machinery, seeds, etc. This opens up a great opportunity, allowing the way for foreign companies who would like to invest into this potential market, to do so.
