In October 2018, Myanmar’s stock trading value saw a sharp drop of over Ks 174 millions (USD $ 112,469) when compared to September 2018

YANGON, Nov. 6 -- Stock trading value on Myanmar's Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX) registered 780.3 million kyats (503,440 U.S. dollars) from trading of 184,812 shares in October, seeing a sharp drop of over 174 million kyats (112,469 U.S. dollars) compared to the September's, according to the monthly figures from the YSX on Tuesday.

On September alone, stock trading value of five listed companies showed 954.7 million kyats (615,910 U.S. dollars) from trading 218,595 shares.

Stock trading value on YSX continued drop for two consecutive months since August when it was recorded at 1.5 billion kyats (967,741 U.S. dollars).

The stock trading value reached all-time low registering 666 million kyats (429,677 U.S. dollars) in June this year.

In accordance with the figures, a total of 3,491 shares were traded by the five listed companies at estimated value of 22.9 million kyats (14,782 U.S. dollars) when it closed late on Tuesday.

The online trading system on YSX has been recently introduced to attract more investors in the country's stock market as well as to promote stock trading value.

Also, the new Myanmar Companies Law which was enforced on Aug. 1 this year allows foreign investors to take up 35 percent in local companies as well as to trade at YSX.

At present, five listed companies -- First Myanmar Investment (FMI), Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holdings (MITSH), Myanmar Citizens Bank (MCB), First Private Bank (FPB) and TMH Telecom Public Co. Ltd -- are trading on YSX.

Jointly owned by the Myanmar Economics Bank, Japan's Daiwa Securities and the Japan Exchange Group. the YSX officially began trading on March 26, 2016.
