The annual meeting of Myanmar Fisheries Federation (MFF) was held in Yangon along with the products exhibition with the aim to develop the fisheries industries of Myanmar

Myanmar Fisheries Federation (MFF) held its annual meeting with the sector of displaying Fisheries products and showrooms in Yangon on Sunday.

It is the 18th, 19th and 20th Meeting with the aims of developing the fisheries industries of Myanmar.

At the meeting, the officials from Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Ministry of Commerce and Myanmar Fisheries Federation explained about the current processes of fisheries enterprises in Myanmar.

Myanmar Fisheries Federation is currently implementing Farmer to Farmer Programme with the assistance of USAID and Winrock International Organization. Moreover, the Development of Sustainable and Environment-friendly Aquaculture Technique in Coastal Waters in Myanmar (MYSEFAT project) is also carried out in cooperation with Japan International Research Centre for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS).

Executive Officer, Myanmar Fisheries Federation, Kyee Ngway said “Today the professionals will discuss about the difficulties facing in fisheries industries and how to solve the problems and challenges for food safety of people. And also, we will discuss for the facts to be added in the policy laid down for development of fisheries industries.”

Meanwhile, the Fisheries Products Exhibition is being displayed by Myanmar Fishery Products Processors & Exporters Association and many other companies.

There were 15 educational showrooms and 16  fisheries shops included.

Technical Advisor, Myanmar Fishery Products Processors & Exporters Association, Tin Hla said “Today we are displaying local fisheries products for food safety of the consumers. There are many fisheries products in the shops and showrooms. We plan to participate in three international seafood shows in America, Asia and Europe in order to penetrate in the international market.”

The Federation also plans to establish a public company in order to implement the project for development of Myanmar Fisheries Industries in coming years.
