Dala Bridge project which will connect to Yangon and Dala township shakes the land prices again

The $168 million Dala Bridge Project, which will connect Yangon and Dala township, has caused the spikes of land prices again, according to the real estate service providers.

Back in 2013, the land price in Dala Township increased tenfold since talks of a bridge linking Yangon and Dala emerged.

The project is now completed 20 percent, according to the Ministry of Construction.

“There are more sellers than buyers, who due to the COVID-19 is not coming to see the lands. But there are inquiries over the phone. But the requested prices are too high for buyers,” a realtor told Myanmar Business Today.

A 20 ft x 60ft land plot is quoted around K30 million but can be as high as K90-100 million based on the location.

The project is implemented using $157.83 million from South Korea along with $30.34 million from the Myanmar government.

The 6,128 ft long four lanes bridge is hoped to bring better transportation between Yangon and Dala helping develop other adjacent townships such as Twante, Kawkmhu, and Kwangyan Gone.

The project was first proposed to Pyithu Hluttaw in 2014 but delayed for four years due to opposition until December 2018, when a groundbreaking ceremony was held attended by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counselor of Myanmar.
